The Michigan Catastrophic Claims association (MCCA) has acted upon Governor Whitmer's call to return surplus funds created by No Fault reform to Michigan policyholders.
The process will begin to refund $400 per vehicle to Michigan drivers who had an auto insurance policy as of 10/31/21. Drivers can expect to receive a check from their insurance carrier beginning in May 2022.
No action is needed on your part, no need to call your agent or insurance company.
This surplus refund will not affect the MCCA's ability to provide funding for catastrophically injured accident victims.
**UPDATE***
Under DIFS guidance, insurers have been instructed to issue refunds as quickly as possible, but no later than May 9, 2022.
